Nocturne Podcast: Art and sound, together.

I've always been a night person. As you've probably seen, I am a huge fan of dreaming and love to illustrate my dreams as a way to remember and understand them. Sometimes I find myself awake in the wee hours of the morning. It can be a time of wonder, of solitude, and of quiet creativity. And other times, it's not

A few months back, songwriter/podcast producer Vanessa Lowe asked me to design a logo for her new podcast, Nocturne, a beautiful collection of stories about the night. Now, we are embarking on a new and unique collaboration. For each episode of Nocturne, I create an illustration. I listen to the episode (often over and over again) as I work, and weave in the images that I see in my mind's eye as I listen. It's a wonderful project, very inspiring and a new way for me to work.

If, like me, you're a fan of This American Life, Radiolab, Invisibilia, Snap Judgement et al, give Nocturne a listen. Nocturne is a beautiful work of art in and of itself. Below are the illustrations and audio (click on the title) for the first 4 episodes.

And the other cool thing? My husband Eric designed their website. :-) Enjoy!
